As new foster parents, the word "trauma" didn’t really resonate with us at first. We treated all kids like our own. While this approach often helps provide a sense of normalcy, it doesn't always work when our home is in the "red zone." If you're unfamiliar with this term, the red zone refers to when youth experience a trauma response. In these moments, they can quickly shift the entire atmosphere of the house from calm to chaotic. The first time we experienced this, it felt l
